As people are playing "Pokémon GO," more and more secrets and tricks are being discovered. But, as it turns out, some misinformation has been flying around, too.
One such rumor was that if you tap a Pokéball that misses its target, it will be returned to your inventory. You can indeed tap Pokéballs that are rolling away, but it looks like this just shortens the time before you can throw your next Pokéball and does not actually prevent it from being lost.
So, sorry, it looks like there's no way to recover your lost Pokéballs after all.
If you're short on Pokéballs, a few trips to your local Pokéstops should be more than enough to replenish your inventory. Happy hunting!
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story stated that Pokéballs could be recovered by tapping them, but it looks like that's not the case. It looks like any errors in Pokéball counts are simply due to server issues. We apologize for the error.
