Up until recently, living in South America meant you were left out of the "Pokémon GO" craze, but the game just made its official debut there just in time for the Olympics!

"Pokémon GO," despite being out for several weeks now in many countries around the world, has yet to roll out everywhere — countries that still have yet to access to the game include Russia, South Korea, China, Egypt, and Nigeria.

The availability of "Pokémon GO" in Brazil will be welcome news for all of the many Olympic athletes who have traveled there. Up until now, many have been posting on social media about their lack of access, tweeting images of maps completely devoid of Pokéstops. Some charged on anyway, including Japanese gymnast Kohei Uchimura, who managed to rack up a $5,000 phone bill trying to play.

The news came in the form of a Facebook post on the official "Pokémon GO" account that also provided updates on other aspects of the game: Niantic publicly confirmed that Legendary Pokémon had been "erroneously granted" to some players (and were subsequently removed), and that the recently removed Battery Saver mode on iOS would be making a comeback as soon as it was fixed.

So, even though South American Pokémon trainers will be waiting to get their hands on a Legendary Pokémon like the rest of us, they'll have plenty of time to catch the remaining 142.
